I’m doing guitar lessons again but doing individual lessons for now. I’m enjoying this more than doing a group setting. I’m not sure if I’m a good teacher but I do teach what I know. The most difficult part to teach is the strumming. I have 3 students right now.

I also have plans to get rid of one of my guitars. I don’t need 3 of them, 2 will do just fine and I can fix up the one that needs a little help but plays like butter.

Basketball

Basketball camp ended today. We had 14 girls and it went really good. I found a few more fun drills last night and they went well today, the girls liked them.

The camp was only 3 days but I think we may try to do it again in July. I’m encouraged by the turnout. We really might have 2 teams this year. I like being called Coach.

There are times I’m not sure if I’m too busy or I’m trying to hide behind being busy. Neither way I’m want to be doing things that matter not just idle busyness. That is my deep thought for the day.

Surprise of the day…my oldest mowed the grass really nice and did the weed wacker too. Last year I had to repeat myself several times before it got done. They are growing up, plus he even moved a flexible metal hose instead of mowing around it.

He’s going to prom, his last one! This is our “like a son” to us. He is doing well and will be going to college close by the area.

Yard Work

It’s time to cut the grass again…the boys are taking turns this year. It’s funny, I used to do it all the time but not anymore. They are old enough and big enough to do it just fine. But they only do what they have to…ugh!

What if we had a huge yard like back when we lived out east? We had lots of flowers, weeding, and mulching. What would they do if we got gazebo kits and let them do a few of them? Of course they are great workers for other people just not us. I know it’s typical.

Basketball Camp

This week is busy week with basketball camp for the girls 5th grade through 8th grade. It a new test for me. I’m teaching girls the fundamentals of basketball, I’m haven’t done that in a while. In fact I’m not sure if ever.

I had fun today with them, but I need more fun drills for them. Something that will capture their attention and fun too!

That’s my goal for tomorrow.

Big Party

I’m still now sure of what to get for all the graduates this year. We are having one big party at the church with will be alot of fun. Maybe a dance recital gifts from balletgiftshop.com would be appropriate for the girl but not so much for the guys!

I know I will miss the ones that going away to college. They all are very special to me and hold a dear place in my heart. I have watched these teens grow up physically but also spiritually and can’t wait to see what is next for them.

Heaven

The longer I live the more I long for heaven….think of it, the perfect day forever with Christ. My younger son and I have had several conversations about heaven and what it will be like. His imagination is fresh, young, and thinking of things I wouldn’t be thinking about. Other things such as dunking the ball, will everybody be able to dunk, can you say best game ever??

My older brother thinks we will be able to moonwalk on the moon….can you picture that?? I would have never thought of that. I must not have much of an imagination. I don’t think that way, I just know it will be the best day ever forever!! That’s pretty much all that is needed for me.

Basketball

So both boys are playing summer basketball. They have 3 tournaments and lots of practices, including practices at 6 o’clock in the morning. It was my younger son’s first time this morning, then he goes to school. So it’s a hour practice then he showers at the gym, then comes home just in time for his dad or me to take him to school. We thought we would let him try it this morning because not a lot was going on at school. Funny, as soon as he got home, he took a 3 hour nap! LOL!

Can We Get Along

What is it? I just can’t seem to be able to finish a conversation with my older son without an disagreement. It’s driving me bonkers!! I’m hoping it’s just because he is 17 years old and wants to make his own decisions.

I believe he thinks I enjoy not getting along, but I can’t stand it and yet I will stay my ground when needed. The odd thing is that my younger son watches and seems to learn from his older brothers’ mistakes. When we are having our disagreement the younger one just get really quiet and then will ask me questions after the fact. I actually asked him for his opinion yesterday just to make sure I was clear in what I was saying.

Everyday I’m asking for wisdom and guidance on how to get to the heart of the matter with both of them.

It’s a peaceful Friday night here. The older is out with his girlfriend having dinner and the younger one is spending the night with his friend, watching the Heat game. You would think they would be at home doing lsp ceramics with their mom. Actually I’m watching the Heat game also.

Young Hearts

I decided to go to Young Life tonight. It’s a place where teens mom have a special night, once a month. A night to get away, feel special, and not be alone. It was a good time. The leaders celebrated Mother’s Day with the girls. They even had someone to serve the girls…very sweet.

I was touched by the love that was shown to them and also by how delicate their hearts are. Each with their stories and struggles of real life. It was such a good reminder and God please show me if I’m to help this fall.
